Travel Policy

The FC Durham Academy (FCD) Travel Policy has been developed to establish standards of behaviour and manage expectations of FCD, as well as the team personnel, players and parents.

  • Team personnel, players, parents and spectators will abide by the FCD Code of Conduct and Ethics, which is also aligned with the Canada Soccer Code of Conduct and Ethics.
  • All team personnel are registered and properly screened in advance of travelling with a team.
  • The “Rule of Two” is always adhered to during travel, meaning that no team personnel are ever alone with a player unless another team personnel, parent, guardian, or sibling is present.
  • Room checks, team meetings and other activities are maintaining the “Rule of Two”.  If only one team personnel are conducting a team meeting, then the meeting must take place in an open and observable environment.
  • With female teams, room checks are only conducted by female team personnel or chaperones following the “Rule of Two”.
  • Players do not ride in a team personnel vehicle without another adult present who is the same gender as the player.
  • During overnight team travel, if players room with other players they must be of the same gender and should be similar age.
  • There are no male players in female player’s rooms and no female players in male player’s rooms.  Unless the other player is a sibling.
  • Team personnel must not share a room or other sleeping arrangements with a player unless the team personnel are a parent, guardian or sibling of that player.
  • Team personnel and chaperones will stay in rooms nearby the players and provide players with room numbers in case of emergency.
  • Curfews are established by the team for each day of a trip.
  • Players will remain with the team at all times during the trip unless permission is granted to leave the team by a team personnel.
  • When visiting public places such as shopping malls, movie theatres, etc., players will remain in groups of no less then 3 people.  Groups of players under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
  • Team personnel and players will act responsible and with respect towards all hotel staff and other hotel guests.
  • Team personnel and players will act responsible and with respect towards restaurants, restaurant staff and other customers while at restaurants.
