Training to Train – U15 Academy Team Program

This stage is in line with the Training to Train stage of LTPD. By this stage a strong grounding in the core techniques should be established. As players enter this age group, they now are approaching training to continue honing their technical skills while
beginning to focus on specific tactical aspects of the game. They are using the training environment to improve not just their individual game but using those individual skills to improve the team’s game.

FCD will continue to operate with a complete 4-corner holistic approach which focuses on technical/tactical, physical, mental and social/emotional areas of player development. Our curriculum and focus can be found in the U15 Overview and Curriculum. FCD will operate 1 team is this age group that will have an assigned staff coach. These teams will compete in the OASL, as well as selected travel events. Annually, FCD attends the Canada Cup hosted by Ottawa South United and the Umbro College Showcase at these ages. Evaluation of these players will be continuous with 2 written
player evaluations per year, technical benchmark testing once per year and physical benchmark testing twice per year. Teams will operate under a 44-week calendar with a 3:1 training to game ratio. A physical training plan will be implemented and periodized based on the physical phases of development required. Classroom sessions throughout the winter will be utilized to assist with the development of tactical, mental, social and emotional focus areas.

At this stage the players will also enter our College Bound Program which is described later in our Technical Development Plan. This will involve showcase events within Canada and the United States.
