Michigan Club Challenge - April 28-29, 2018

April 30, 2018 - FC Durham Academy's 2006 Boys participated in the Michigan Club Challenge this past weekend (April 28-29) in Northville, Michigan. Our Blue team was entered into the top division and our White team was entered into the second division.

While Coach Reggie set a goal for both teams to make their respective finals, both teams were faced with unique challenges to secure their spot in the final.

The Blue team found themselves with 1 win and 1 loss heading into their 3rd and final group stage game. Sitting in second place after Saturday's games, they had to beat the team sitting in first by at least 2 goals to secure their spot in the final. They put on an impressive display of grit, determination and technical ability to dominate the game with a 6-0 victory. This not only provided them with a chance to win the tournament, but also a chance to avenge their 1 defeat against a strong Michigan Rush Northville team, ranked 5th in the State. Unfortunately, a slow start had them chasing the game early and they were unable to avenge their earlier defeat, losing in the finals 4-2.

The White team found themselves with 1 win and 1 tie heading into their 3rd and final group stage game. Sitting tied for 1st in their group, they needed to win by at least 3 goals to guarantee their progression to the finals or hope for a bit of luck. When the dust settled, they finished the group stage as the only undefeated, advancing to the finals against Michigan Rush Downriver. The boys played their best game of the tournament and earned a well deserved 3-2 victory. Coach Reggie and Coach Dale were extremely proud of the boys' effort throughout the tournament and how well they represented FCD.

Well done to FCD's 2006 Boys!!!
